About Tannic Acid NF/USP Grade
Tannic Acid, also known as Glycerite, Gallotannin, and Gallotannic Acid has the chemical formula C76H52O46. It appears as a light yellow to pale yellowish-brown solid that darkens on exposure to air and light. It has a faint, characteristic odor with an astringent taste. It is freely soluble in Hot Water, Alcohol and Acetone, and insoluble in Ether.
An NF/USP Grade chemical is the one that conforms to the criteria of the National Formulary (NF) and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
