About Methanol 99.85% Lab Grade

Methanol (methyl alcohol) was first made by heating wood chips in an airless environment. Some of the carbohydrates in the wood are broken down to produce methanol, which is then condensed. As a result of this procedure, methanol is now known as wood alcohol. It appears as a colorless and volatile liquid with an alcohol-like odor at room temperature. Properties:

Methanol is the simplest alcohol: one methyl group linked to a hydroxyl group. It has a boiling point of 64.7 °C, molar mass of 32.04 g mol−1, and a melting point of −97.6 °C. Methanol has a density of 0.792 g/cm³.
