The Ferroxyl Test Solution with Nitric Acid, often referred to as a Ferroxyl Test, specified in ASTM A 380-99, section 7.3.4, is a chemical solution used to detect the presence of iron in materials or surfaces. Ferroxyl Test Solution with Nitric Acid contains 3% by weight Potassium Ferricyanide (ACS reagent grade) along with 3% by weight Nitric Acid (ACS reagent grade) in 94% distilled water.
