Is there a difference between .5N and .5M hydrochloric acid? If so, what is the difference?
Definition wise they are different.
But for Hydrochloric acid normality and molarity is same because HCl has 1 acid protons per molecule. So, 0.5N and 0.5M are same.
By definition, N = M x n, for HCl n = 1.
So N = M.
Same volume of Hydrochloric acid is required to produce 0.5M or 0.5N. -
