Questions & Answers

  • Hello, I would like to clear the air about Neatsfoot oil and leather/cotton thread. There is a lot of misconception being conveyed that neatsfoot oil is too acidic and bad for leather and will decay cotton thread over time. Can you confirm that it is acidic to a point where it should be avoided for leather care and cotton? Thank you, Dany McDonald

Hello, and thank you for your question,

Yes, Neatsfoot Oil damages and decays cotton and leather but not due to its acidity but because it reacts with the oxygen in the air.
