About Red Dye #17 FD&C, FCC Grade

Red Dye # 17, also known as Allura Red, Food Red 17, and FD&C 40 has the chemical formula C18H14N2Na2O8S2. It appears as an odorless, dark red powder or granules and is soluble in Water and Alcohol at ambient conditions. It is generally supplied as red Sodium Salt but can also be used as Calcium and Potassium Salts. Lab Alley’s Red Dye FD&C contains <1% Red Dye #17 and >99% by weight of Water.
