About Butyric Acid
Butyric Acid, also known as Butanoic Acid, is a straight-chain alkyl carboxylic acid with the chemical formula CH3CH2CH2CO2H. It appears as a colorless liquid with an unpleasant and penetrating odor. It is a saturated short-chain fatty acid with a 4-Carbon backbone and is commonly found in esterified form in plant oils and animal fats. It is miscible with Water, Ether, Ethanol and is slightly soluble in Carbon Tetrachloride.
Butyric Acid is known to support digestive health, reduce inflammation and lower the risk of diseases. It is used for body in butter, cheese, butterscotch, caramel, fruit, and nut flavors.
